June, 2012 Clinic

In June we held our annual Dakar clinic where we treated 1,840 patients.

The following is from an email update on the June ’12 medical clinic.  It is from the Senegalese director of Friends In Africa, Miracle Ifeanyichukwu.

We had a very successful medical clinic amid the challenges. The tent guys started Wednesday and the tent was ready for use at 2 a.m. Friday morning; by the grace of God we started on time friday morning. We saw about 1,840 patients.  The doctors worked very had.  [In addition] from initial tent issue, on Thursday the Prefect's office called to inform me that the clinic has been cancelled. The reason they gave is that was is the legislative election and that the place would be used for a political meeting, the second thing they said is that a medical program is so sensitive that I should see the regional medical officer. It took me the whole day to negotiate with them. I was asked to give them the names of all the participating doctors [and] they called some of the doctors to question them. At last we were asked to go ahead. In the morning they sent another team of doctors to check the medication we are using, they said they want to be sure we are not using expired drugs. It was not an easy experience but the Lord saw us through.

Blessings to you,
Miracle
